Railway crossings / highway crossings

Potable water pipes located underneath a highway pose several challenges: open-trench replacement is not feasible since road closures affect people’s daily lives until the work has been completed.

In addition, there is significant cost for surface reinstatement. In case of railway crossings, permits from the railway operator need to be obtained in order to work within the railway corridor. These pipes are often laid with bends, even multiple sharp bends with changing direction. Furthermore, the railway needs to be protected from leaking pipes that could potentially damage the track bed. For these applications, the Primus Line® system can be used to plan small access pits to the pipe in suitable locations, even outside of a railway corridor or off a busy highway. Since the lining material can traverse around multiple bends without any additional excavation, a quick installation and recommissioning is possible.
