25 years of Rädlinger Primus Line: From start-up to international brand for pipe rehabilitation

More than 1,400 kilometres across over 60 countries, around 1,300 projects and 110 installation partners worldwide: as it marks its 25th anniversary, Rädlinger primus line GmbH can look back on a successful track record. Since the company was founded in 2001, Primus Line^® has evolved from a proprietary technology into an internationally used solution for the trenchless rehabilitation of pressure pipelines.

The company’s foundation was preceded by five years of development work. The first projects were completed in 2003. Today, Primus Line^® is in use worldwide and the company has branches in Australia, the USA and Canada. “We have achieved what many did not think we were capable of: we are now an international brand,” explains owner and managing director Werner Rädlinger.

With this international expansion, the company’s self-image has also changed. Whilst Rädlinger Primus Line primarily acted as a product supplier in its early years, the company now increasingly sees itself as a service partner. Among other things, the team supports its customers with engineering, project implementation, site supervision, the preparation of feasibility studies and process specifications, as well as accreditation training. Technical expertise, the knowledge built up by staff over many years, and collaboration with installation partners around the globe play a central role in this.

Another key focus is on quality assurance. Quality control of the technology spans the entire manufacturing process – from raw materials to goods dispatch. The company intends to continue investing in production, new products, testing and certification in the future, whilst further sharpening quality awareness during implementation.

Werner Rädlinger describes one of the greatest challenges of the past 25 years as establishing the trenchless rehabilitation method firmly in the minds of those in charge. The task remains to convince decision-makers of the technology’s performance and advantages in suitable areas of application. He sets out a clear vision for the future: “The whole world should recognise that Primus Line^® is the go-to solution for pressure pipe rehabilitation.”

Pressure pipes rehabilitated with Primus Line^® can now be found in more than 60 countries. In spring, one of the longest installations in the company’s history took place in Denmark: in a nature reserve, a 2,600-metre-long liner was pulled into a sewer rising main in a single piece.

At home in the world, at heart in Cham: it wasn’t until 2023 that the first rehabilitation of a pressure pipeline took place in the hometown of Rädlinger primus line GmbH. The project involved a 260-metre-long drinking water pipeline.
