Situation

With an age of nearly 50 years, the raw water pipeline near and in a petrochemical plant was close to the end of its life span due to successive leakages in recent years. Since some of the leaks were at the beginning and  under an intersection of a railway platform, actions needed to be taken.

Special features

Organisation in phases

Short-term tasks were based on the scheduled supply cuts.

Minimised amount of connectors

This could be achieved by installing long sections depending on existing elements.

Two host pipe materials

The section to be rehabilitated consists of an asbestos cement pipe with a length of 2.4 kilometres and a reinforced concrete with sheet metal jacket and asbestos cement with another 3.6 kilometres.
